Dr. Pedersen obtained his BSEE and MSEE from Iowa State University and his PhD in Electrical Engineering from Southern Methodist University. He is a member of multiple academic honorary societies. He is a named inventor on over 30 U.S. Patents and is coauthor of the book: “Telecommunications - A Time for Innovation.”
From 1963 to 1972, Dr. Pedersen was employed as a Senior Engineer at Collins Radio Company. He worked on the space communication system design for NASA’s Apollo lunar mission. He also worked on S-band transponders, computer systems and networking, store and forward data switching, digital voice switching systems, and advanced project studies including telecommunication system research, switching system design, and digital networks. After Collins Radio Company was purchased by Rockwell International, the founder, president and CEO of Collins Radio, Mr Collins, recruited Dr. Pedersen to assist him in forming a new company, Arthur A. Collins, Inc. While at AAC, Dr. Pedersen, along with a highly qualified telecommunications research staff, performed communication systems research resulting in the issuance of several U.S. Patents.
In 1981, Dr. Pedersen was hired by United Technologies Corporation (UTC) Building Systems Co. as Senior Vice President of Engineering. Here he was responsible for development of communication switching systems for use in UTC’s intelligent building systems program.
In 1986, Dr. Pedersen arranged a buy-out of the previous division of UTC to form GENIOSS, a subsidiary of Data General Corporation. Dr. Pedersen served as President of GENIOSS Inc., where he had responsibility for development, manufacturing, and marketing of the Integrated Office Controller (IOC) product line including voice and data switching and integrated voice/data messaging. That program included the development of multiple custom and semi-custom integrated circuits for digital switching products.
Dr. Pedersen began his career as a technical consultant in 1991. He worked for Collins Licensing Company for where he helped develop technical strategies for licensing Arthur A. Collins’ digital switching and network patents. Dr. Pedersen also worked with Steve Lisa and Jerry Hosier as a technical consultant on the program that resulted in world wide licensing of the patents of Jerome H. Lemelson. Dr. Pedersen continues to serve as a technical consultant on many of the firm’s matters. His principle areas of expertise include telecommunications, computers, electronics, and manufacturing systems.
